My daughter joined debate as a middle schooler through the IMPACT Coalition. She loved it and wanted to attend every tournament. Her first year, she missed a tournament which cost her a chance at a speaker award. As a parent, it’s wonderful to watch your child come to life and just as hard to see your child devastated. She cried when she didn’t get an award while many of her classmates did. Will Baker took the time to come and speak with her and with me. He encouraged her to stick with debate. The next year, she even competed regularly against high school students pushing her own limits. My heart swelled with pride when he gave her a speaker award the following year—first place.
Debate Delivers Dreams.
